most of us get confused when we have to arrange some adjective become good and correct phrase.
example : An Indonesia young white slim beautiful girl or A beautiful slim young white Indonesian girl.
which one is correct gramatically, the first one or the second one??
well......the second one is the correct one in grammer.
here is the explanation:
SEQUENCE OF MODIFIERS is adjective and adverb which are used to modify - in this chapter- a noun. So that, we get clearer description of a noun. sometimes, a noun can be described by more than one adjective. If so, then there is a rule to follow the sequence of the modifier.
See as Follow:
1. both, all, half
2. the, a, an.
3. ordinal number (fist, second, third,......)
4. cardinal number (one, two, three..........)
5. general judgement (nice, good, bad.............)
6. general mental judgement (beautiful, pretty, handsome.....)
7. measurement/ size (big, tall, short, slim......)
8. age or temperature (old, young, hot..........)
9. shape (round, square............)
10. color (red, black, white........)
11. verb participle (carved, wooden, sleeping, etc)
12. origin / Nationality (Indonesian, Pakistani, British, American.........)
13. material (plastic, gold, silver....)
14. NOUN/HEAD WORD.
example :
an absolutely lovely tall old brown European metal Table.
that attractive giant antique wooden statue.
